Annual St. David's Day Walk 2024

On Sunday, March 3, 2024 at 1:30 PM, a small group of us gathered for the Third Annual WSWNE St. David's Day Walk in Elizabeth Park, West Hartford, CT - to remember St. David's famous guiding words:

Gwnewch y pethau bychain -Do the little things.

Members Evan Williams, Ed and Beth Roberts Brown, Janet Lewis, Susan Davies Sit in the greenhouse.

We were fortunate to have an unusually warm (66ºF.) and sunny day for early March in New England. The park was bustling with visitors taking advantage of the weather and first opening of the greenhouse to the public to see its display of flowers grown from bulbs.

We doffed our coats and meandered along a winding park road (closed to vehicular traffic) chatting as we walked from near the greenhouse to near the pond house and back to the greenhouse again.

Inside the greenhouse we inched along between long rows of gorgeous flowers, including some daffodils, of course.

Then it was once more around the walking route for some of us.

At the end of our visit we all gathered around a welcoming stone bench in the warming sunshine to share some refreshingly cold cider—rather than the usual hot cider that had countered the chill of more seasonably cold early March walks.
