Special Guest Speaker: Dr. Karianne Robinson is a historian specialising in the South Wales coalfields during the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

She grew up in an old mining town in Flintshire, North Wales. Her grandfather was the last in the family to work in the region's coal mines.

Karianne later moved to Lancaster, England to study for her first degree. Later, drawn by the desire to learn about those who lived and worked in the Welsh coalfields, she completed her PhD in History at Lancaster University.

She is now establishing a business that brings together her expertise in modern Welsh history and her personal passion for family history, helping others to connect more deeply with their past.

At the WSWNE Welsh Genealogy Workshop, Karianne will share some of the compelling stories she uncovered through her research, illuminating the lived experiences behind Wales's industrial heritage.
