Welsh Women's Peace Appeal Ceremony Video

On Sunday, March 10, 2024, a ceremony was held at the National WW1 Museum in Kansas City to celebrate the centennial of the 1924 journey of three Welsh ladies ( Annie Hughes Griffiths, Mary Ellis and Elined Prys) from Wales to the U.S.

They brought a Peace petition signed by almost 400,000 Welsh women to the women of America, together with an Appeal. The Appeal was to encourage Congress to ratify joining the newly formed League of Nations.

WSWNE President Susan Davies Sit is a member of Heddwch Nain Mam-Gu USA that has been researching that historic event.

The commemorative ceremony features WSWNE member Ann Griffith from Heddwch Nain/Mam-gu and a performance by the North American Welsh Choir, followed by a conversation with historian Dr. Eirlys Barker; poet Dr. Mererid Hopwood, FLSW; and former Member of the European Parliament Jill Evans.
